Fibrous Florescence
Fibrous Florescence is a collection of woven fabric inspired by cotton. To create these textile designs, Nicky created abstract motifs inspired by cotton and manipulated them using CAD software called Kaledo Print. Cottonseeds, cotton fibers, and cotton bolls inspired the individual motifs. Fibrous refers to my inspiration of cotton, and florescence, meaning flowering, refers to my manipulation of the motifs into floral designs. Using colors from Pantone’s spring 2014 color forecast, I created a collection of fabric that is both modern and feminine. These textile designs were inspired by the WGSN trend for spring: Modern Romance. The fabrics were woven using a Jacquard weaving machine using both cotton and acrylic yarns.
